Gerald served in the American Air Force during World War II from 1942-1945.  I have been unsuccessful in obtaining more details about his service from the National Personnel Records Center, who say that, because of an extensive fire some years ago, many servicemen’s records were destroyed.

If, gentle reader, you knew him during his War Service, or can supply me with any relevant information, for example, his rank and where he served, I would be most grateful.

I do know that he made a number of radio broadcasts for CBS Radio during the War years, both as entertainment (in “The Whistler” episodes, for example), or as Public Service Announcements.
