You can, dear reader, imagine my excitement when I was handed this!  I immediately asked if it was available for viewing, just as I had viewed “Wild West Story”, but I was told that the only copy they had was in “cold storage” and that there was no viewing print available.  From excitement to disappointment in the space of 30 seconds!  However, I was given contact names at the SLBA if I wished to take the matter further.  Which, of course, I did!  I contacted SLBA on my return from Stockholm.  It apparently was not possible to transfer the film print in cold storage to a viewing format without considerable cost (about £2,500).  My hopes were dashed, but not my determination!  I made contact with a gentleman at Omega Films, who said that one or two of the film production staff on “Private Entrance” were still around.  I was able to contact Bert Sundberg, the Production Manager of “Private Entrance”, both by e-mail and by phone.  To cut a long story short, it took the best part of a year for a viewing copy to be added to the SLBA database at no personal cost to myself.  My thanks to LM, who now owns the film, and Bert Sundberg for all their assistance.  The film is for “study purposes” only.  Final confirmation that I would be able to view it came through about a month before my return in 2008 to Stockholm.  I had hoped to meet Bert Sundberg for the viewing at SLBA, but unfortunately he was unable to be there.  I did share the viewing with my Scottish travelling companions and with Sven Erick Alm, Gerald’s step nephew.
