MEMORIES OF GERALD

MAMIE VAN DOREN (Gerald’s leading lady in Guns, Girls and Gangsters)
E-mail dated 16 October 2008.
Dear Linda
I am so happy you are doing this for Gerald.  He certainly was deserving of it.
The last time I saw Gerald was in Beverly Hills at the “Konditori” - a Swedish coffee house where we saw each other quite frequently.  I am Swedish so we had a lot in common.  He looked rather frail, and told me he had cancer.  That was the last time I saw him, sadly.
I met him on a sound stage where we were about to shoot the movie GGGs.  I was rehearsing my opening number with my boy dancers.  The director wanted me to meet my leading man, I was totally blown away, Gerald always had THAT look.  He was charming, a gentleman, and one hell of an actor.  What a pleasure to have worked with him.  One of my favourite movies to make.  We also did a fun scene together on the Jack Benny show about 1959 or 60.  He always made me laugh, to the point I would forget my lines!  Had he not been taken romantically with his girlfriend I’m sure we would have dated.
Wishing you well in your new adventure.  Gerald will always be remembered.
With Love and Kindness,
Mamie.
40th anniversay, such a short journey. xx

Thank you, Mamie.
In this section I will add e-mails and letters sent to me from relatives, friends and colleagues who remember Gerald.
