LIDINGÖ 2010
RETURN TO HOME PAGE.
As can be seen from the above photo, gentle reader, the day was wet - very wet!  I met Sven Erick Alm, Gerald’s step-nephew, at Lidingö Centrum at 9.30 a.m.   He drove me the short distance to Lidingö Kyrka and we walked down to the Columbarium, where I replaced the flowers and card after cutting away the ivy which grows over every year.  We waited for my travelling companion, Louie, to arrive.  I was also expecting Joachim Björk, whom we met back up at the Kyrka entrance, as it was too wet to stand for any length of time.  Sven Erick had to leave so I took Joachim back down to the stone, where he took a couple of photos.  He then drove us back to Stockholm as, despite a good rain jacket, I was still soaked and had to change.  The rain had abated somewhat by that time, however.  As I had been unable to spend as much time as I had wanted on 11 June, I returned alone on 13 June, the day before departure, and stayed an hour.  It was warm and dry that day and the birds were singing, the bees buzzing and I again enjoyed my time there.  Here is the photo I took that day - the stone is dry!  You will see this year I have added a flower - the Thistle of Scotland - to the posy.
