I first saw Gerald Mohr on television back in the late 1950s or early 1960s as a guest star in all the major TV Westerns of the era, most notably in episodes of Maverick, Cheyenne, Bronco, Bonanza, and in other contemporary shows like the Dick Powell Theatre. He was always the villain of the piece, the black-hat baddie who ended up face down in the dust before the end of the show, shot, stabbed, drowned and generally murdered by the goodie of the piece! But he was more, far more, than that! Tall, dark and handsome, with a wonderful, rich baritone voice, he was ideal leading man material. He has, during his long career, been the star of radio, film and television series and shows, right up to the last film for TV he made in Stockholm, called “Private Entrance”. But that is another story which you can read elsewhere in this website!
He starred or played in over 500 radio shows during the 1940s and early 1950s, most notably starring as “Philip Marlowe”, Raymond Chandler’s famous Private Eye. He also starred in “Yours Truly Johnny Dollar” and in many of the episodes of “The Whistler”. He also performed in 72 movies, starring in a number of them, and in 143 TV shows, including 39 episodes of “Foreign Intrigue”, in which he starred as Christopher Storm.

I have placed a card and flowers on his gravestone at Lidingö Kyrka for the past seven years. It is a beautiful place to visit - even in the rain!
