GERALD

FOREIGN INTRIGUE 1954-55
AKA CROSS CURRENT
RETURN TO HOME PAGE.
In June 1954, after completing work on the American Second World War film “Dragonfly Squadron” in which he co-starred, Gerald flew to Stockholm, Sweden, taking with him his wife Rita, his son Anthony (then 7 years old) and his mother Henrietta, to commence a year’s work on 41 half-hour episodes of “Foreign Intrigue”, produced by Sheldon Reynolds on location and at the Europa Film Studios in Sundbyberg and Filmstaden in Solna.  Anthony attended a Swedish school in Stockholm during that year.  Gerald rented a house on Tennisvägen, a street in the Bromma district near the Drottningholm Bridge.  He bought a grey Jaguar car which he loved but, because at that time Sweden was right-hand drive, he had a few minor accidents!  My grateful thanks to Sven Sjönell, Production Manager on 17 episodes of “Foreign Intrigue”, for this information.

Exterior locations included Paris, Copenhagen, Vienna and, of course, Stockholm.

Gerald played Christopher Storm, owner of the Hotel Frontier in the American sector of Vienna.  If any gentle reader can tell me the precise location of the building used for the Hotel Frontier exterior (see below), please contact me.
